Study

Your third year entails rigorous design research and development, including responding to industry briefs to develop fashion concepts from primary research through to final prototype garments. You will develop and apply innovative manufacturing techniques through investigation, sampling and prototyping, whilst responding to defined markets and consumers. Students will engage in a series of simulated real-world scenarios focussed on developing the personal and professional attributes required by industry, bridging the gap between education and employment. Students will synthesise their learning experience through self-reflection, peer evaluation, and professional feedback, exploring career options applicable to personal strengths and aspirations.

Year 3 Level

This unit enables independent, action-based learning; working in a team to develop a new fashion business proposition. Projects facilitate the development of key professional skills, employability and entrepreneurial attributes. This unit enables students to further develop their critical skills and research interests, contextualising and analyzing key issues and shifts in the domain of Fashion. This unit builds on and extends the knowledge and skills developed in Fashion Cultures 1.

We’ll teach you about every stage of the fashion cycle from concept to sales. Together we’ll explore how to create a socially responsible company. In your first year, you will be introduced to the fundamental principles and techniques required to creatively explore fashion design and the associated technologies. You will begin to develop your own personal design aesthetic whilst gaining an understanding into the processes of research, design, development and manufacturing, reflecting and evaluating at each stage. The first year also introduces business applications relevant to the fashion industry, including marketing and branding, project management and business planning.
